What is reproductive justice?

Reproductive justice is a broad term that is often defined differently by different people. At the most basic level, reproductive justice can be thought of as a merger between the reproductive rights movement (which traditionally focused on access to free and safe birth control, rights to comprehensive sex education including sexual reproduction and sexually transmitted infections, etc) and social justice movements (which traditionally focused on issues of racism, classism and sexism). By merging the two movements, reproductive justice explores health issues that extend beyond the "abortion debate"  and examines how power and privilege restrict an individual's access to resources for sexual health, especially within communities that experience social, institutional, or systemic oppression.
